All the right moves

Crias Rowlands has made an absolutely gorgeous jukebox in the new Mesh format. Would you believe it is only 8 prims, and incredibly detailed, both in the modelling and in the texturing. It works as a land radio, and is going to be a must-have, I’m sure. It exists in a couple of versions: classic, as seen here, and modern. Find it at the Stuff Store !

Stray Pig

This little video snippet by Maylee Oh looks so, so cute, and features herself and Azure Electricteeth wearing tiny Mesh avatars made by yonyon Yip. And it’s really a whole other SL with shadows and depth of field going on ! Looks as good as a professional video game sometimes.

The alligator is currently free and is offered as a group gift at the Stray Pig mainstore. There’s also a baby pig avatar in a lucky board, and other Mesh avatars, like the giraffe, cost 555L.

On the street where you live

I’m coming late to the party on every account, and I had been telling myself yesterday that I would not let myself be distracted by all the new Mesh clothing trickling onto the main grid, because I sort of need to get into Mesh myself, but here I am. I just wanted to have a quick look at the Jane store and then saw more items there than previously glimpsed on plurk last night that I rather liked (plurk, I finally get how distracting you can be!).

So, what did I like ? Let’s start with the poncho ! I’ve always wanted a poncho to wear on SL, but they’re impossible to wear as attachments, so it’s good that one of the first things released as Mesh was one. It came in two sizes and I found the smaller one to be perhaps a touch bulkier than I might have liked, but only just slightly. It flexes rather well with the body, but while it’s nice to have rigged clothing that acts closer to how clothing moves with the body in real life, we’re not quite entirely there yet. In maybe two thirds of the poses I tried, parts of my body were still showing through, and I had to cycle through my entire set of poses to get a few pics where it showed well.

Zigana

I’ve had these screenshots lying around for a week now and thought it was about time I uploaded them. SL has come a long way, hasn’t it ? I would dare any non-SLer to snicker at SL and say it looks crappy now. Because, no, it doesn’t, not anymore ! And with Mesh come today, things are surely looking up. I still have to get the hang of the depth of field feature, so I did a bit of blurring in Photoshop but these are otherwise untouched. Visit Zigana.

The Nest

A new one-stop sim dedicated to Home & Décor stores. There are so many to discover — many I don’t know, I’m sort of getting out of the loop there — I couldn’t see them all yet. You’ll find me also if you wander there, down Main Street by the gas station.

Ole Times

So, I was just visiting Tatty Soup, where I had never been before, and camming out on their homestead I spotted this house and started snapping away. It’s really, really nicely decorated. The house and most of the furnishings are from POST by Van Auster, and everything else comes mostly from Kopi, Clutter, North West, iTuTu, LISP Bazaar, tram, Y’s House, nordari, Second Spaces, Picnic and Tatty Soup (love their rusty tub at the mainstore, by the way). Sorry for not listing exact credits of everything, but there’s quite a bit, plus you can teleport and check things out yourself anyway, at least as of this posting (of course there’s no knowing that this will all be there forever, BUT THAT’S LIFE). I guess also there’s not much point in blogging edited pictures of stuff; but I was looking to age or distress the pics a little bit and when I tried black and white, I just thought, this looks, woah… nice. Noir and just slightly moody. I wish the SL viewers had a feature to see everything in black and white with adjustable contrast, grain and sepia too.

You can say that again

So I’ve been thinking lately that I am kind of blah about blogging, and I really am, but just today I stumbled upon this skybox by Magneto Jie of Drobak while traipsing around. Inspection says it might be as old as 2009 so it might not be so new but it’s new to me and it’s always nice to be reminded of how good things can look in SL if you have the skills and patience to make them so. If just all of SL could just be like that, not necessarily in that style, but as good as that… It really could, you know. Just see what a talented person can do ! It might be a little hard to furnish; you might have to either use other Drobak furniture, of which there is not an abundance, or you’d have to find other things that match the clean, modern, carefully baked style. Anyway, just empty, it is pretty fantastic, although too modern for me but I can appreciate the skills. It is 66 prims in all, counting the light fixtures and what furniture there is (mostly it is a commode). The demo is here.

Fun & Free

Linden Lab has done something really nice here with this large selection of new default avatars for you to wear from the Library: animals, robots and cars designed by the likes of Damien Fate, Renn Yifu and Xenius Revere. I couldn’t try any of them yet because though I see the avatar folders in my third-party viewer Phoenix, I cannot put them on, and the regular Linden Lab viewers keep crashing for me whatever I do. See this official post that I nicked the pictures from.

Broken Jaw

Today that the throng has finally cleared at LeLutka, the order of the day when going to shop the new summer release was for me not to splurge too much, so I zeroed in on just these two items, a pair of shorts and a jacket, but I can well predict that I am not going to take this outfit off for at least a week.
