my previous comment seems to have dissapeared..i’ll say it again..
WOW!!
Merci pour l’info Lili :)
J’ai fondu pour le “chapeau” bandage :)
Le corset est pas mal non plus. :)
I’m very glad Megg made these, a breath of haute couture can’t hurt once in a while. It’s nice to be casual but there’s too much striving for everyday normality in SL fashion, I’d say. In the long run, it becomes a little stifling, which is what makes these all the more fun to have.
Cant beat a bit of Bowery
I remember the day you introduced me to his bonkiness.
There is a fine line between tribute and piracy. I think these hats are very well remade and translated into second life. Hats off to that!
However, I don’t agree with it being sold. After all, the pieces are a copy from existing design.
True, it might perhaps have been better had the pieces just been displayed in a fashion show or used for a photo series or something like that. Then again, the items were displayed in a gallery, encased inside glass displays (so to speak), very much in the form of a tribute, and it was to go on for a limited period of time. And it seems to me if the pieces were sold it was more as a keepsake, memorabilia, or even gimmick, rather than as your average wear in SL. Like going to the museum and buying a fake reproduction at the gift shop on your way out… That’s kinda how I saw it. Plus, it was said the profits were going to a charity supported by one of the designers the tribute was to. All that points to good intentions on the SL creator’s part, to me. But, I cannot judge or defend someone I don’t really know…
I didn’t really stop to wonder at the time. There have been some discussions about this since, and I seem to have gathered that fashion cannot be copyrighted ? Legally accurate or not, of course there are still some ethical considerations to be made about whether you should make money off of someone else’s ideas, if that was the case.
