Bringing out the good stuff in Second Life®: fashion, hot spots, freebies, etc.

Oi, I’m briefly checking in to blog a few items that have caught my eye in yesterday’s release at LeLutka (clothes) and Laqroki (skin).

First off, the poncho! I jumped when I saw it because there hasn’t been many good ones made out there. The one I have from Bare Rose was the first really nice poncho I came across but I always wanted one more low-key and simple, and this one by Thora Charron fits the bill just right. It is really well-sculpted and easy to adjust to your body (just edit the width or the height prim by prim), and comes in many shades.

Also, I loved the belted scarf that comes with Thora’s feather dress, and that I used in the second outfit. I wanted to keep it simple and hid the corset part and only kept the scarf, so that it wouldn’t look too busy, but as a whole it should be a great accessory to dress up other outfits, too.

Finally, the Sam bracelet by AnyKey Munster really, really pleased me, you can pick a color for each bangle, and it’s really the kind of simple design that I like to wear to accessorise casual looks.

This mini Fall release at LeLutka will be followed by a bunch of other ones, but it contained also many more items like leggings by Marni Grut and a dress, samples of which were sent as a group gift !

I made two quick looks today to show off two pairs of shoes that I have always wanted and that were just released the same day yesterday.

First off, Maitreya‘s toe-cap pumps! Perfect for that retro touch that I like to bring to a lot of outfits I put together, I will wear these forever and beyond! I also tend to favour classic shapes in pumps, so these win on every aspect. And I certainly could not have wished for anyone more talented and perfectionist than Onyx LeShelle to bring to SLife shoes I was pining for. The Esprit sandals that were also released looked great in “wine” with this outfit as well and I hesitated a lot about which to wear, but I decided to go with this slightly quirkier look. Another time, surely!

Secondly, about half a dozen pairs of cowboy/biker boots are currently available in various stores, but there has never been one that was able to really win me over (and I never have featured any on this blog before, have I ?), well, Kalnins has come out with a pair that is very near perfect and for that he has my eternal gratitude (although of course I had nothing to do with him making them, d’oh!).

Lastly, I’m wearing here “Megan”, the face with which Emilia Redgrave debuted her new line of natural skins about a few weeks ago, and I’m very much looking forward to her next releases!

I love leggings, I love fishnets, I love ripped, holey stockings and today’s post has all of that, courtesey of the makers from Blowpop and Royal Blue who have just today released many, many of these gems.

Marni’s liquid leggings come in at least 4 fun designs — but what else to expect, other than more to come of course — and each type comes in 4 variation of colours. They’re flashy and playful and will dress up anything you wear with that lil’ touch that is unique to Marni in SL.

Now Annyka’s fishnets will be there to dress you down; they come in 12 colours, either as stocking or as tights (with or without panties) and in ripped or normal versions. The quality is top notch: the holes and rips are perfectly realistic, and there’s no pixelation, and also, the seams match! I love them and they’re definitely going to be used over and over again.

My entire slife, I had been using only two fishnets, which became three when Tatianna from FAB.PONY kindly gave me a fantastic pair she had made but that’s so recent it almost doesn’t count as ‘my entire slife’. So, having these new ones to play with with so many options is yay!

London Dailey recently released four different faces under her Fresh FX brand, each available in a single tone as shown here, that got me very excited as soon as I saw them. They’re each quirky enough to give you that special touch, without being too over the top, and I find them to be near perfect ! For some reason, I appreciate the fact not only that they’re all different faces, but that they come in only one (different) skintone each, and that they also were not all released using the same make-ups. All of that combined seems to make each skin unique, which I think will be an additional appeal for those who want to look a bit apart from everyone else, should they pick one of the new FFX 4 faces as their main skin.

A big release today at LAQ ! Six faces from the Portrait line were rejuvenated, and here they are. Some of you may have patiently been hoping for an update of a skin that used to be a favourite of yours from the former RaC (mine was Lacie, but I also had the original versions of Dina and Trisha here). I wasn’t sure I’d have the stamina to blog all six of them, with a decent outfit for each, but I really wanted to show off the diversity of the faces that has made the reputation of Mallory Cowen’s brand and has been forever her trademark, and which I think is pretty evident in this selection. Also, no need to show every make-up, because at 1990L a pack, can you really hesitate ?!

This is Imagen’s upcoming male skin that will be released on the 26th at the Skin & Shape Expo. Photosourced, and looking more mature than Ander and Gael, I think it’ll appeal very well to the men who aspire to a regular guy look. Between the plethora of photoreal, über-male skins, with their perfect model faces, and the niche of either fun or emo hand-drawn skins, which look great on those that I see wearing them but are just not for me, Daniel is perhaps the first skin that I find to be realistic while still allowing me to feel normal, too. Handsome, but no longer a hunk, at last! Which, believe me, is beyond ridiculous when everyone is one on SL.

Someone had the cutest idea and invited dozens and dozens of awesome designers to set up gatcha dispensers at Cioccolata, that deliver a random selection of exclusive creations in exchange of very small sums (10 to 30L on average). Here I’m wearing only a couple of items, from Ohmai and Pididdle, but there’s like, so many dispensers there, the mind boggles. Now I don’t remember why I even logged on, but I’m out, and the rest will wait !
