This little video snippet by Maylee Oh looks so, so cute, and features herself and Azure Electricteeth wearing tiny Mesh avatars made by yonyon Yip. And it’s really a whole other SL with shadows and depth of field going on ! Looks as good as a professional video game sometimes.
The alligator is currently free and is offered as a group gift at the Stray Pig mainstore. There’s also a baby pig avatar in a lucky board, and other Mesh avatars, like the giraffe, cost 555L.
Linden Lab has done something really nice here with this large selection of new default avatars for you to wear from the Library: animals, robots and cars designed by the likes of Damien Fate, Renn Yifu and Xenius Revere. I couldn’t try any of them yet because though I see the avatar folders in my third-party viewer Phoenix, I cannot put them on, and the regular Linden Lab viewers keep crashing for me whatever I do. It’s a month-old picture and I couldn’t be bothered to take more, but Off The Wall is looking pretty awesome right now, all sunny and happy !
New and a little bit less new avatars from Really Good Builds ! As usual, they’re very affordable.
Pirate Hooker is, wow, not for everyone, I guess. I’m sure some people will appreciate the sculpted wiry pubic hair. I know I was impressed by it. Also love the animations that come with it!
Sick World is sick. And it pukes something nasty ! But it is really cute.
On a related note, I’d like to start featuring Mesh avatars here, if you or someone you know has done some really spanking Mesh avatars on the Beta grid, let me know. I’ve seen some really amazing things in youtube videos, but nothing in person yet. Get in touch ! Show me a link, a picture, or a video and perhaps we can arrange something so I can show your avatar here.
Kari released a fun HUD for photography that lets you create snapshots on the fly with a vintage feel, by applying colour filters, dusty or scratched overlays and all sorts of frames, from slides, to polaroids and negatives. It’s like bringing the iPhone Instagram into SL !
You can see how the HUD works by watching this video here. I really love the on/off button, so convenient to reframe a shot or move things around in your view. All future updates are included in the price of 500L and then you get 3 old camera replicas too, plus one to wear strapped around your neck.

New stuff coming at Kari ! Long, long promised, it’s all cute, fun and really well done. Starting with the specs which are colour-change and which I loved, though perhaps I did regret a little the absence of brown as one of the colour options. But they’re definitely going to be my new favourite geeky glasses. Next up is the wristwatch, of which I didn’t take a close enough picture, but it looks really good up close. Among my other instant favourites were the newstand and the robots. One of them speaks French and I had to laugh when I first heard its love declarations. Ever since I began this blog I always intended in the back of my mind to make a post showing all my favourite toys from RC Cluster, but my RC folder was so big (it’d now cover half of my screen if I wanted to visualise it all in my inventory) that I always found the task too daunting, and I would postpone it, postpone it some more, until it never got done. Well now, RC Cluster is closing ! So, I shook myself into action and finally did my post, although sadly it’ll be a goodbye post.
Random Person from Really Good Builds does some really good, fun avatars. And they’re cheap ! 300L each only, and most of them come really well animated. Beginning with the Tired Coffee Cup which moves waddling around, revolving around itself with an accompanying sound that is really rather goofy. I love the walk on Mr Spudsington, as well. And the legs on the crab all move individually as you walk, in a really realistic fashion. I don’t think the alien comes with any animation overriders, but then I think it’s even best worn with your own AO set since it has a pretty much human shape anyway. Only the Burger Cake at the bottom is not an avatar; it’s not meant to be worn but when you rez it and touch it, it serves out a slice like so, that you can hold and eat.
Random Person’s builds are awesome and what I love about them is how they really exploit well the potential for fun and creativity in SL. I hope they keep doing more like that !
These afros from DUBOO come in 7 different versions, each one more cute than the others, and this was my favourite. Also, they are for Project Themeory, so unless I’m wrong, they cost 75L only ! They should be out next Saturday, and the theme will be, I believe, DISCO !
