So, I was just visiting Tatty Soup, where I had never been before, and camming out on their homestead I spotted this house and started snapping away. It’s really, really nicely decorated. The house and most of the furnishings are from POST by Van Auster, and everything else comes mostly from Kopi, Clutter, North West, iTuTu, LISP Bazaar, tram, Y’s House, nordari, Second Spaces, Picnic and Tatty Soup (love their rusty tub at the mainstore, by the way). Sorry for not listing exact credits of everything, but there’s quite a bit, plus you can teleport and check things out yourself anyway, at least as of this posting (of course there’s no knowing that this will all be there forever, BUT THAT’S LIFE). I guess also there’s not much point in blogging edited pictures of stuff; but I was looking to age or distress the pics a little bit and when I tried black and white, I just thought, this looks, woah… nice. Noir and just slightly moody. I wish the SL viewers had a feature to see everything in black and white with adjustable contrast, grain and sepia too.

This will probably be the only post I make on the Home & Garden Expo and I’m focusing on the items that some of us vendors will be putting out, where the proceeds of the sales are going to Relay For Life, plus some new releases here and there. Oh, and it’ll open later today, at noon SLT.

Above, the adorable little retro coffee table is one of the two items from artilleri for RFL and the caravan is a new release ! It comes in at least six colours, I think. [expo slurl]

This chair in three colours and this little coffee table are the two RFL items from North West I made just for the Expo, 200L and 150L respectively. I am right next to *Art Dummy! and LISP Bazaar and on the same sim as ARIA ! Whew. [expo slurl]

This original chandelier from ARIA is 135L only; Yelo Uriza’s other item is an outdoors modern beachy set. [expo slurl]

I love the textures in this bed from *Art Dummy!; proceeds go to RFL and it’s just 250L ! [expo slurl]

Besides this set for RFL, LISP Bazaar also has a free gift set called Amelie (you’ll find the box for it anywhere) plus another gift set you’ll have to find in the Expo hunt (of which I know very little about) [expo slurl].

This is going to be The Loft‘s new release, The Garden Party set. I think it’s my favourite dining table set so far; I like how overall it does not feel too formal. This table could be set for a Sunday family brunch in your garden, if you’re very fancy like that, or for a wedding party. The chairs have a nice, relaxed country air to them and most of all, I love that tablecloth! [expo slurl]

Also, this pretty setting I used comes courtesy of the awesome Spring Skydome from Turnip’s™ Homes and Stuff. A must-have ! Great for photos, and also just to put your skybox in, if it has windows, which I do.

The Home & Garden Expo is around the corner, and with that, I wanted to make a little highlight on one excellent store I didn’t know before that specialises in retro furnishings: the Stuff Store. It doesn’t have too many items and it is fairly new, although once I had a moment to open the few packages I received, the name of the creator, Crias Rowlands, started to ring a bell to me, and indeed ! Once upon a time, years ago, as I was walking around the Wastelands I saw something I liked very much, so much I had to ask for it, even though the creator didn’t appear to have a store at the time (and that was Crias Rowlands, in case that wasn’t clear).

Anyway, closing the parenthesis, and moving on to the items. Crias mentioned not having very many products at the moment but that he plans to expand depending on success, so I do wish him success, particularly because he deserves it: his products are very detailed and excellently textured.

Among my favourites, the radio transmitter that works as a landradio and seems to have a lot of presets, though I haven’t tried it yet. The fridge distributes food, and the bag of crisps even has a crunching sound. I thought all the anims that come in the eats should have been uploaded with a priority 4, however, so they’d keep when you walk, but that seems to be common with almost every other animated wearable object. The television can also change the land media streams, and I found it really adorable ! See more things on the store flickr stream.

This high-quality skybox by Mattew Lacombe is currently free on the marketplace. It’s copyable and 90 prims for the skybox alone. There’s also rezzers included for two other versions where the skybox opens onto a tunnel road. So very well textured ! I don’t think I saw a single seam anywhere. If we could only see more like this on SL. But I know this is a whole lot of work. It’s also a pretty masculine space with all the bricks and woods. I decorated it sparingly to make it a bit more homey for the pictures. I generally liked the proportions and the wall recesses to cram personal touches in. It doesn’t feel cagey, and it even feels cozy after you have put a few things out. And I think I might have really loved this prefab to death, and paid good money too, if it could have been in a lighter colour theme (though I understand this is a one-off and not only was I lucky to snag it for free, but who knows how long this will even be around).

They really complete the set ! There’s enough room left for you to add your own touch.

Oops, I should probably be busy working on things of my own right now, but I had to take a moment to make a quick post about this store I just stumbled on today, [mdrm]. I don’t know how I’d never seen it before, but this furniture by naonao2 Ellils is super, super low-prim and also well-done. You rarely see stuff that low-prim and baked, too. Some items made me think of Rachel Breaker builds, only with a more real-life, vintage aesthetic and textured accordingly.

The whole chimney setup at the top is 10 prims, and was a recent group gift.

This is a post I quickly put together on an impulse following the release of this attic skybox from Reek just today for FLF (it might already be gone, at least at that price already). Fourty-four prims in all and modifiable, it’s going to be my new hideout for now ! Often, making an old, traditional, worn-out build means slapping on grungy textures, that often look too raw and photorealistic or too… grunged out; and they lack shading too, and the overall result hurts the eyes and looks pretty haphazard to me. I’m glad Riq Graves surprised us with this new product, tackling on a popular style of build on SL, but bringing his own touch and texturing skills to it.

On another note, Colleen Desmoulins launched a new in-world group for her store, which will offer discounts, and gifts. I’ll admit I balked a little at the entrance fee at first, but then when I decided I was going to make a décor blog post today, I went for it to have more things to show here. There’s a whole dining-room set, just out, offered as a gift among other things. It is my secret hope that we will be spoilt at least a few times a year !

Tomorrow, on the 15th, begins the winter edition of the Seasons Hunt, with many of my favourite creators on SL. Here are some of the items that will be available as gifts up until January 29th, including one from me (there are 4 or 5 other Home & Décor stores in the hunt not featured here yet, and I might add more pictures later here).

Lamp: Sea Salt. Rice sacks on crate: Kari.

The Soho skybox is a recent release from NOTsoBad and is not part of the hunt. It boasts fine details, such as the chimney, baked walls, piping and other elements, adjustable lights and privacy for the windows, and an optional city skyline backdrop.
