Lainy Voom, also known as Pandora Popstar, filmed a cute short video displaying furniture made by herself on her alter ego. Looksie, plucked from her blog, it’s extraordinary ! I would like this to last a whooooole hour…

More fun free AOs from Kuso ! Only two days left to grab them up.

Please excuse the stupid HUDs on my screen, I wish there was a shortkey to hide those when filming with the UI off.

Music is the victim

Yesterday Vintage McMillan put on the most fabulous and engaging fashion show performance I have seen on SL. The collection was presented in numerous parts, each set to music — Lady Gaga all the way, of course — along with minutely choreographed dancing and stage installations. Beyond the fashion, I was most impressed with the all the fun, but also the hard work and coordination that went into the performance as I watched it unfurl flawlessly, for a solid straight two hours, mind !

The closest thing to a real life concert show made in SL, I enjoyed every minute of it, and so here are 6 and a half of them I threw together in a machinima. I think there was something sweetly eccentric about putting all this together for an audience of about 10 people, as I only started filming on the spur of the moment and there had been no prior plans to record this at all. But, here goes ! And, watch out for the upcoming Epoque collection to be released sometime next week.

Ambassadors

Dive tube & Ninja kite. From sTwo. You walk around with the tube, but start floating when you enter Linden waters. It’s 20L only and has several prints. The kite was similarly priced.

Parachute. A super sweet group gift from -RC- Cluster, by Redd Columbia. It gently bobs as you wear it.

BMX. From Smersh. This bike is simply irresistible ! Even if I forget to wear the pedals sometimes.

Headsack. From Ben’s morgue. In case you ever need to, you know, wrap your head in burlap and also would like to have it tied well and secure with a rope. Featuring Benjamin wearing it himself !

Oh, hey !

On another note, last night, I was amongst the lucky ones to get Rachel Breaker’s new thing, the sousaPHONE. I never know from the name what it’s going to be, even though sousaphone turns out to be an actual word, d’oh, but I always pull whatever it is she made out of my inventory with anticipation. This tuba actually made me happy all evening, as I stood behind friends, oblivious to their existence, typing away in another window, all the while pulling the most pitiful sounds out of this thing without respite, without anybody complaining ! I love to know that I’m being annoying but getting away with it. In fact, I’m going to go after people with this all week-end.

I LOVE YOU, RACHEL BREAKER !*

You make SL so much more awesome.

* That is how you should greet her whenever you see her.
** Grimaces are not included.

Ninjaaaaa !

There’s a delightfully fun and silly AO set at Kuso, by daiz Papp, and it’s free ! There until the 19th, I believe, it’s called “Ninja Man”. Here I shot a quick little machinima of the stands only, but it is complete with walks, a typing overrider and everything. For it, I put on the new Whippet & Buck playsuit which came in handy for all that exercise !

If you’ve not been to Kuso before, they have tons of fun, whimsical animation overriders for very cheap, from about 4 to 16L, with full sets at 300L. And it’s constantly updating with awesome new stuff.

Fool in the Junkyard

If you hadn’t seen it before, this is a machinima aston Leisen made in The Wastelands some time ago, with shadows, and one of my favourite Beatles song. Just wow, and really awesome !

The Wastelands

On January 19th, the Wastelands turned three, and yesterday they celebrated with a round of events customary of a Saturday in the community, plus a couple that were held regularly when I used to live there. I had thought to capture some photos during the week, but then realised that shadows don’t work for me anymore and was too disheartened to take any in the end. So, I made a machinima !

I remember having been around for their first anniversary, but missing the second one after I moved out, and I’m really quite happy that I have gone for the third. Only missing from this footage is “Game Show”, once a weekly feature hosted by the extraordinary entertainment provider that is Giuseppe Spicoli. Damn that because, though I personally much preferred the “Match Game” that Giuseppe introduced later (see real life version here), this in general was always my favourite part of Saturdays in the Wastelands (along with watching really hilariously dumb movies at Burnt Oak). They’re basically both TV-based games, with a host, a stage, a couple of participants on a podium, and rowdy people bantering from an arena. Invariably, lots of fun. But I’m recounting souvenirs mostly from 2008 here, because after that I left in August of that year, I don’t think I can have set foot in The Wastelands more than ten times since. But then yesterday was pretty terrific and just like the old times, and once in a while, a blast from the past can’t hurt.

Just let me make this clear, though, before you go and get the wrong idea: I was never ever a warrior, I never fought once or role-played anything. But, as once an owner of one of the first homesteads offered to the residents, what I chose to put out on my land, had a leeeettle bit of impact, I imagine, on the general landscape of the area, so I always toed the line between what made me comfortable, what I liked, and what would be acceptable to the rest of the community within a certain context of destruction, survival and, yeah, let’s say the word, post-apocalypse. What (partly) amused me all along, I guess, was to wonder how long it would be before someone came up and told me to go take a hike. But that never really happened. All in all, good times. ❤

A few teleports: the court of skulls, the fighting arena, the Junkyard stage, the swamp, and the drive-in.

PS. Particularly in The Wastelands, sepia windlight settings make a lot of things look better, like “Dusty”, “London2026″, “Verdigris”…

Pemberley trailer

Wow, following a link to Bethany Heart’s flickr when I was clicking around at the Wisteria prefab vendor, I got to see this great little machinima that was made at one of her sims.
