Ole Times

So, I was just visiting Tatty Soup, where I had never been before, and camming out on their homestead I spotted this house and started snapping away. It’s really, really nicely decorated. The house and most of the furnishings are from POST by Van Auster, and everything else comes mostly from Kopi, Clutter, North West, iTuTu, LISP Bazaar, tram, Y’s House, nordari, Second Spaces, Picnic and Tatty Soup (love their rusty tub at the mainstore, by the way). Sorry for not listing exact credits of everything, but there’s quite a bit, plus you can teleport and check things out yourself anyway, at least as of this posting (of course there’s no knowing that this will all be there forever, BUT THAT’S LIFE). I guess also there’s not much point in blogging edited pictures of stuff; but I was looking to age or distress the pics a little bit and when I tried black and white, I just thought, this looks, woah… nice. Noir and just slightly moody. I wish the SL viewers had a feature to see everything in black and white with adjustable contrast, grain and sepia too.

So I’ve been thinking lately that I am kind of blah about blogging, and I really am, but just today I stumbled upon this skybox by Magneto Jie of Drobak while traipsing around. Inspection says it might be as old as 2009 so it might not be so new but it’s new to me and it’s always nice to be reminded of how good things can look in SL if you have the skills and patience to make them so. If just all of SL could just be like that, not necessarily in that style, but as good as that… It really could, you know. Just see what a talented person can do ! It might be a little hard to furnish; you might have to either use other Drobak furniture, of which there is not an abundance, or you’d have to find other things that match the clean, modern, carefully baked style. Anyway, just empty, it is pretty fantastic, although too modern for me but I can appreciate the skills. It is 66 prims in all, counting the light fixtures and what furniture there is (mostly it is a commode). The demo is here.

Y’s House Café

Lately it’s not been infrequent to hear folks chafe at the bits, eager for Y’s House to finally release something new, and a few days ago, came out this very nice café prefab. You can see it here. It costs 1200L and 100% of the proceeds are going to the Japan Red Cross.

The daily routine

This high-quality skybox by Mattew Lacombe is currently free on the marketplace. It’s copyable and 90 prims for the skybox alone. There’s also rezzers included for two other versions where the skybox opens onto a tunnel road. So very well textured ! I don’t think I saw a single seam anywhere. If we could only see more like this on SL. But I know this is a whole lot of work. It’s also a pretty masculine space with all the bricks and woods. I decorated it sparingly to make it a bit more homey for the pictures. I generally liked the proportions and the wall recesses to cram personal touches in. It doesn’t feel cagey, and it even feels cozy after you have put a few things out. And I think I might have really loved this prefab to death, and paid good money too, if it could have been in a lighter colour theme (though I understand this is a one-off and not only was I lucky to snag it for free, but who knows how long this will even be around).

This is a post I quickly put together on an impulse following the release of this attic skybox from Reek just today for FLF (it might already be gone, at least at that price already). Fourty-four prims in all and modifiable, it’s going to be my new hideout for now !

Seasons Hunt: Winter

Tomorrow, on the 15th, begins the winter edition of the Seasons Hunt, with many of my favourite creators on SL. Here are some of the items that will be available as gifts up until January 29th, including one from me (there are 4 or 5 other Home & Décor stores in the hunt not featured here yet, and I might add more pictures later here).

The Eams House

NOTsoBAD has recently released their first modern prefab, the Eams House. It comes unfurnished at L$5 990 (counting 391 prims) or at L$14 590 with an accompanying pack of matching transferable furnishings. As is to be expected from NsB, the house boasts a flawless design, professionally baked textures and the very complete set of furniture is beautiful as well as tasteful (everything seen on the pictures is included).

Now for the onslaught of pictures. I always take as many good angles as I can, and this house has plenty !

A home is a home

The Seasons Hunt organised by Hallie Galli starts in a few hours. And two days ago I started decorating the skybox that I’ll be putting out as a gift and have just finally finished doing so, trying to add as many more décor items from the hunt as were available tonight. There will be more skyboxes available as gifts from the hunt too, namely from Magic Nook and Tee*Fy at least, I hear.

There is seriously some amazing stuff that has been done, here, from so many of your favourite stores. If there were to be awards for hunts, the Seasons Hunt along with the Red Packet Hunt and the House & Garden Hunt earlier this year would be the three runners up. Easily the only ones I’ve bothered myself with all year, too ! Also, this is not a linked hunt, meaning, you do not need to find each item in order to get the landmark to the next destination. You can check all the participating stores here, already. You’ll be looking for a leaf. Happy hunting !
