The Stuff Store

The Home & Garden Expo is around the corner, and with that, I wanted to make a little highlight on one excellent store I didn’t know before that specialises in retro furnishings: the Stuff Store. It doesn’t have too many items and it is fairly new, although once I had a moment to open the few packages I received, the name of the creator, Crias Rowlands, started to ring a bell to me, and indeed ! Once upon a time, years ago, as I was walking around the Wastelands I saw something I liked very much, so much I had to ask for it, even though the creator didn’t appear to have a store at the time (and that was Crias Rowlands, in case that wasn’t clear).

Russian land

Here comes my last furniture spam of the day, I promise. And it starts with beautiful lamps from Phi. 150L, no mod/no copy.

Ishi I didn’t know and I think it has pretty awesome stuff and there are going to be so many more good things to come from it in the future, I’m sure. I got pretty enthusiastic today about their cottage. There was no demo, but the owner, Butterfli Summers, was kind enough to rezz a copy so I could look. It is pretty primmy but really detailed, and if you don’t have to count your prims, you might very well fall in love with it. It is so cute and charming. There are recesses perfect to place a little bed or a rug or cushions on and dream inside, while looking out the window… Butterfli also has the best pricing system as well. Her prefabs (she has two so far) cost about 1L per prim ! So this cottage is only 850L for, that’s right, 837 prims. But that means she has another build, a skybox, really cheap for sale next to it too !

Trash Wahwah, from the blog “Blah to wah“, has put out some really cute things of his own for sale, and this is his ottoman, I love the colours !

This table I made ! And I’m selling it at one of the stands at ALBERO, too. There are 9 colours, 75L each, and there’s a texture-change version too that costs 325L. The menu is slightly cumbersome to use, I’ll admit, but I’m hoping to replace it as soon as the texture-change script I got gets an upgrade. The tables are no-mod but I included three sizes. They’re kinda like stools in proportion. I had started to make those a couple of days ago and I kind of put them out on an impulse during the night and I didn’t even have time to think of a proper brand name. I didn’t want to be lame and sell them as “Lili’s tables”, though, so “North West” will do for now.

Blonde

This week-end has quite a bit going on, home interior wise, with the opening of the Home & Garden section at ALBERO, and the debut of the “Spruce Up Your Space” monthly event, which has a variety of home interior designers each put out a creation at a discounted price, according to a proposed theme. Zedellbee Zuhal is part of the first round of designers to participate and here’s the vanity dresser that she has made in response to the “Cupid’s house” theme (with more of her other things below). You will find it at her ALBERO outlet, for 125L only this week-end !

Turnip’s™ Homes and Stuff

Oi, Turnip Sorbet makes the cutest stuff ! I already had admired the shop that she built for Julliette Westerburg’s Très Blah mainstore, but I didn’t know that she had her own shop until I saw it participating in last week’s Black Friday event. So I went to Turnip’s Homes and Stuff yesterday, and oh my, have a look here, it’s just clap-your-hands fantastic.

Turnips-bathroom

Touching the curtain closes and opens it. Each of the two faucet knobs fills the tub with a different type of bathwater and of course, the shower head works, too. Everything comes scripted chock-full with goodness. 2500L for the tub, sink and toilet together, which can be bought separately too, no mod/no transfer.

Beolas Whitfield released a victorian bath set the other day. Pretty sweet, huh ! Here it is, with some other things I like from kusshon. Note that the towel rack is sold separately.

Kowloon

In my ongoing effort to showcase some of the best looking places on SL, old and new, I give you Kowloon ! It has been around, I believe, for about two years and recreates the now defunct Hong-Kong district as it was represented in a once popular Japanese video game. It is still a fairly busy locale here on SL, especially frequented by photographers, though it should not be forgotten that one can also rent apartments there, something which I found myself seriously considering while snooping around each building. But I will have to resist !

I am being told Kowloon was originally a military fort in the 1800′s, which then went on to become this completely walled in-city, standing by itself, that fell under triad control in the 1950-70′s, and is now completely abandonned, and largely gone, save for a few buildings and squatters. Thanks, Gomi!

Taken from the net:

“The Kowloon Walled City was located just outside Hong Kong, China during British rule. A former watchpost to protect the area against pirates, it was occupied by Japan during World War II and subsequently taken over by squatters after Japan’s surrender. Neither Britain nor China wanted responsibility for it, so it became its own lawless city.”

“Its population flourished for decades, with residents building labyrinthine corridors above the street level, which was clogged with trash. The buildings grew so tall that sunlight couldn’t reach the bottom levels and the entire city had to be illuminated with fluorescent lights. It was a place where brothels, casinos, opium dens, cocaine parlors, food courts serving dog meat and secret factories ran unmolested by authorities. It was finally torn down in 1993 after a mutual decision was made by British and Chinese authorities, who had finally grown wary of the unsanitary, anarchic city and its out-of-control population.”

Innsmouth

Just spotted this recently opened sim, Innsmouth, on a blog today. Set in 1920′s Europe, this dark but moodily lit coastal town is sparsely spotted with fantastical creatures, and was built to be a backdrop for the Lovecraft fans.

LP2

A pretty popular item has been popping up around a couple of fashionable places of late, and, checking out the shop that it originated from, I found some more awesomely baked pieces there, which were mostly in a more minimalist vein. I loved many of the chairs and armchairs I saw, even if the sitting animations were not a big hit with me (this being further aggravated by the fact that the chairs aren’t modifiable but at least there was in most cases a ‘no pose’ button option). Anyway, LP2 is definitely a must-see when shopping for your house !
