Rachel Breaker

Sometime in late March 2008, I walked into Bland, a clothing retail store that Rachel Breaker was then just opening. It was kinda cartoonish, kinda retro, but especially it was colourful and fun. Soon enough, that is, not many months later,  the Tableau team that had been very exclusive until then announced a newcomer on the sim, and as I excitedly went to check out the shop that had been set up in the sky, I recognised it to be the Bland brand, except it had by then some new additions besides clothing, like toys and big, colourful armchairs, all of which confused me somewhat at the time. Fast forward to today, the Bland name has been scrapped, all of that old stuff, especially the clothing, is probably no longer for sale, and it has made room instead to a growing collection of toys and pieces of furniture that are not only still playful, outrageously so even, but which, build-wise and texture-wise, are now onto an entire other level. To see for yourself, here are two of her outlets in Tableau and here in Thibedeau. I just don’t understand that there are not whole sims built by Rachel all over the grid by now. She could rival the Greenies’ Home Rezzable all by her lonesome, or a Pixar movie even. Standing in anything she makes is like… standing in a whole different SL! She makes anything look as if she had made it out of play-doh, and it’s just mind-boggling, and kinda dreamy, and it feels goooood.

Tree house designs

treehousedesigns3Sculpted reefs, nicely baked terracotta planters and 1-prim plants by Tobias Novi at Tree house designs. The latter rely on the usual trick of alpha planes as at Heart Garden and most other landscaping stores except that the textures are applied to a cross shaped sculptie, thereby saving you prims and allowing you to create more full and lush landscaping. Reasonably priced and all sold mod/copy.

NOTsoBAD

… at all.

notsobad Modern northern african furnishings, both in minimal or traditional flavours, by Reda Bertolucci. It’s beautifully textured, with enormous attention to detail. The subscrib-o-matic at the NOTsoBAD mainstore will also welcome you with a permanent gift: a free cushion, scripted with 16 different textures, a very nice book and some animations to pretend that you’re reading it (shown in the last picture).
