I received a skin to sample, today, sent by Ai Baroque, who I’ve been aware of as being an SL photographer. She made a picture that I really admire here. In the message that accompanied the inventory offer, she explained she had briefly opened a shop some time ago and was now back to making skins. And I was pleasantly surprised, I really liked the face ! Starting with the mouth, especially, it has… character, while being soft. And the face, it’s got a sort of a 60′s good girl, clean look to it, pure, sweet, without being too clean or too fresh or overly young (if that will make sense). And it happens to pair wonderfully with Lamb’s newest hairstyle, I think.

Finally a LeLutka skin that agrees with me ! I know there has been half a dozen reviews made of this skin by some major bloggers prior to its release already, but I was so surprised Lola fit me I thought it was post-worthy. None of the skins of the past and current year had been working for me. Something to do with the shading, I think, that made the skins best compliment finely-chiseled, aristocratic faces of models such as Mariya Nesiote, to name but one.

Lola has next to little of that shading that in Ife works to accentuate high cheekbones, and slim down pointed faces and thin noses further, and for that reason this new skin is now thankfully more forgiving on rounder, more common faces. A nice alternative for fresh, simple looks !

Iki Ikarus from Dutch Touch is giving away a new skin as a gift ! This one comes as part of the newly released “Isis” skin line. You have to be part of the recently created ::DUTCH TOUCH:: Skins & Shapes group and present yourself at the store with your tag on to collect this skin in this one make-up option, available in all 5 tones (along with eyebrow, hairbase and cleavage options). Some of you may have been lucky to join already late in April while enrollment was free, but otherwise there’s now a 250L fee. I think it’ll be well worth joining and staying because besides the free skin now are two make-up options of Isis that are available at a 50% discount for “VIP” members only, as well as a shape too, something which I understand may not be just a one-time thing. And I’m very glad that one of the skins offered at a discount is a bare face with nude lips, which is just how I prefer to wear skins most of the time.

When Toast Bard showed some teasers of her new skins on her blog, I was very excited, all while being unsure exactly what had changed from the previous ones. I’m not very observant like that, and so couldn’t wait to check them out for myself. Well, the minute I finally got to try on a demo at Fashionably Dead last night, I was sure of one thing: I liked these skins so much more ! It’s very subtle, but there’s something more to them, more feminine, more defined and more alluring.

I must have had a lapse of attention somewhere at some point because this new mens release that recently came out at LeLutka had not registered on my radar until the Eron skin was sent over to me the other day. Well, I’m very glad that it was ! So, a little bit afterwards, I went to the store and picked another tone for myself. I’m definitely feeling this skin and think I might very well make it my regular one for the time being. For starters, it’s right in the age bracket I like. The lips feel fresh and have the fullness of youth, but the eyes already betray countless sleepless hours (spent in front of a computer, maybe). And, I think I am quite close to completing my ideal look of an athletic, but unassuming boyish geek.

Last week, I went around the back door of Dernier Cri, and asked designer Asuka Martin for a preview of her newest skin to be released, Charlotte. Here it is in the chestnut tone, and it’s cute ! She can be worn with or without freckles, and there are 5 sets of 3 make-ups each: Dawn, Island, Other, Scene and Valley. The lips differ slightly from one to the other, and I really loved their texture and soft, pouty shape. You just wanna stare at them, and I think it might be my favourite mouth at the moment.
