Dundee

I must have had a lapse of attention somewhere at some point because this new mens release that recently came out at LeLutka had not registered on my radar until the Eron skin was sent over to me the other day. Well, I’m very glad that it was ! So, a little bit afterwards, I went to the store and picked another tone for myself. I’m definitely feeling this skin and think I might very well make it my regular one for the time being. For starters, it’s right in the age bracket I like. The lips feel fresh and have the fullness of youth, but the eyes already betray countless sleepless hours (spent in front of a computer, maybe). And, I think I am quite close to completing my ideal look of an athletic, but unassuming boyish geek.

The past

Last week, I went around the back door of Dernier Cri, and asked designer Asuka Martin for a preview of her newest skin to be released, Charlotte. Here it is in the chestnut tone, and it’s cute ! She can be worn with or without freckles, and there are 5 sets of 3 make-ups each: Dawn, Island, Other, Scene and Valley. The lips differ slightly from one to the other, and I really loved their texture and soft, pouty shape. You just wanna stare at them, and I think it might be my favourite mouth at the moment.

So long, Marianne

Vivé9’s new release, Marianne, is very versatile, coming in three tones (here is pale), with eight make-ups in different syles (ranging from very bare and natural, to pinup and slightly funky), and you can choose to wear light or dark eyebrows, teeth or no teeth, and freckles or no freckles. I found it allowed for an incredible number of different looks, to suit your personal taste, mood or whim of the day (which in my case changes all the time). Also, I’m loving Marianne’s soft, thick eyebrows. They give the face just the right amount of what I’d call “character”, without being a distraction or bringing too much attention on them. ❤

After dark

Lately I have been changing skins and looks so often, I barely know my name anymore, let alone get to really enjoy anything I wear. So, I thought I’d slow down a little and work on a series of shots featuring just skins. I must say I really loved photographing each of these, and though it was supposed to be just a quick skin shopping guide for newbies at first (versus the fashionistas who already know these stores), some of the shots I took in the process actually made me go “freaking, wow” ! Here I’m starting with a series of dark skins, and will follow up with a couple more of these, featuring each a different range of skins.

Book of Basement

A big release today at LAQ ! Six faces from the Portrait line were rejuvenated, and here they are. Some of you may have patiently been hoping for an update of a skin that used to be a favourite of yours from the former RaC (mine was Lacie, but I also had the original versions of Dina and Trisha here). I wasn’t sure I’d have the stamina to blog all six of them, with a decent outfit for each, but I really wanted to show off the diversity of the faces that has made the reputation of Mallory Cowen’s brand and has been forever her trademark, and which I think is pretty evident in this selection. Also, no need to show every make-up, because at 1990L a pack, can you really hesitate ?!

To and fro

To-and-froI’m quite liking the new faces from Kira Ahn’s Glamour line, at KA Designs. I thought the grain may be just a teeny bit too noticeable when zooming in, but each face made me want to disregard that in favour of their very subtle glow, especially the latest face released, Cleo (the other ones here being Lilly, Charlize II and Salide). I like that they each have personality, are not too model-like and give you a little bit of maturity.

Dun dun dun

Dun-dun-dunFree skins of the moment!

From top to bottom.

1. Mother Goose has a bunch of free skins either in boxes or in lucky boards, and if you like Mary, you can have her without the band-aid for 300L and there are several make-ups available. There are many other faces to check out, too. None have demos, which bothered me a little, but hey, if you feel adventurous! Besides, you have the freebies if you want to check out the body and what not. Mary was my favourite face, and I thought she was well worth the try.

2. Another Shop released Starlight, a new line of free skins that will be permanently available at the GNUBIE store (where everything is either 0 or 1L). The faces are bare and pure, come in 5 tones, and have freckled or non-freckled options. You can grab the skin templates to customise them via Eloh Eliot’s blog. They are organised so that you can easily create your own make-ups by just using the paint bucket tool and filling in the adequate layers with whatever colours you fancy! You don’t even need to know how to draw or anything. Gotta love that girl! ❤

3. Imagen offers this make-up in 4 tones and freckled or non-freckled options at the UVogue fair and is lovely. It’ll be gone in a few days, but if you miss it and like the version pictured here, there’s a pretty similar one in the lucky chair over at the Imagen mainstore.

Not free. Hair: Tiny Bird (Autumn Hykova), Glasses: SteinWerk (Aveline Stein).

My tooth

Lucy“Kissy kissy” is Tiny Bird’s contribution to the 50L Fridays, and can be grabbed in 3 colours (50L each) at the store and is proving very popular already!

Also, Lucy is a sweet face I found today at Idiosyncrasy. It’s really, really a sweet face with just the right amount of grain, shine and realism (not to mention some spanking eyebrows).

I did notice that the nostril creases aren’t pushed back enough and the eye creasing does weird angles in the inner corner (it does it on the Riley face too that I bought). This tends to happen in photosourced skins, especially early ones from a skin maker, and then I think it gets corrected in later skins. Anybody has a clue why it does that and how to fix that area for a more natural-looking upper eyelid creasing ? Because then Lucy would be near perfect. I’m just a bit annoyed that I had to notice this like almost immediately AFTER buying three packs, so from now on I’ll wear demos for at least an hour before buying any more skins.
