I swooped down on some of the many make-ups of Très Blah’s Indie at the Expo as I could not resist most of them. I wish I could have fatpacked everything. Here, you get freckles on the tattoo layer, and sometimes liner or lip options as tattoos too, or even in some cases, an extra make-up in an alternate colour scheme for just an additional 100L.

This is Curio’s May at the Skin and Shape Expo. I loved the retro-ish “Blackbird” and the subtle, but playful colours in “Apple Blossom”, “Hydrangea”, and “Lilac”. I’ll probably only be able to feature a few of the best known brands, too much to do at the moment, no time to look around much !

Along with Fashionably Dead and Très Blah, the Nylon Outfitters skins are possibly the only completely hand drawn skins that I’m aware of on the grid; also perhaps a little more than the two others, they might be more of an acquired taste to some, initially. Once I’d finished taking these pictures, though, I was feeling really at home in them and started to look forward to hopping off the stand and go about in them. Also, I tend to be a lot more inspired creating looks around fun skins than realistic ones; working harder at doing something *I* like, and so I end up liking them more and keeping them on longer afterward. And I’m really enjoying what I ended up with here !

Here I’m wearing six of the nine make-up options available in the Honey Beige tone, with Glow Studio eyelashes and an eyeliner tattoo. My favourites are Nude and Smokey, but Icecream and Buttercup are fun, and I like the serious look of Cherry Lip.

New at Vive9, Ginta, that I’m wearing here in the Amber tone.

The skinbase comes with a number of lipstick tattoos in really, really bright shades, and I preferred just the natural lips. For adding just a bit of colour, I suggest trying lip stains, such as the ones by Amiee Galicia at Kozmetika. I’m not wearing any lip stains in these photos but I bought a pack and some shades work well for slightly more vivid, but still bare lips. I couldn’t see demos for anything at Kozmetika, which surprised me; it could be that I missed them all though I really looked.

In these two headshots, I have on just the freckled base with the Full Brunette Brow tattoo. Those full bushy eyebrows come only in that one shade, but there’s also some other thin and thick eyebrows tattoo layers in dark, light, brown, blonde and red. Lucky me, dark brown is my colour because I love those eyebrows to bits. They’re strong eyebrows, shape-wise, but they look soft too, texture-wise, which is the perfect combination for me. I don’t like when the eyebrows are too tweezed, or sharply defined, or look so light and faint you can barely see them on the skin; on the other hand, if the individual hairs are so sharp you can discern each one while not zooming particularly close, then the eyebrows stand out too much on the skin, and not in a good way.

If I could wish for one thing, it would perhaps be just for an extra tone midway between Amber and Satin because Amber is a wee bit too tanned for my taste when I’m not on my usual Windlight setting for photos (that really I use only when taking photos, the rest of the time, I’m on default Linden light), and Satin is too light for me in general. But I love this face ! Distinctive, and a natural beauty, but just not airbrushed-perfect. Something about the highlights too, I think, makes this a softer, more realistic face than Sasha previously. And at 850L for the skinbase pack with a lot of options, it should make everyone happy.

I notice I like how Vive9 skins bring more definition to my bone structure. With my face shape, round and wide, some skins will give me an even rounder, plumper appearance. But then some other skin brands such as Vive9 or Très Blah seem to have highlights and shading worked out so they will sculpt my cheekbones and jaw for a delicately chiselled look, without me having to tweak my shape, and that draws me a little more.

Below, I’m wearing 6 of the “Smooth Cat” eyeshadow tattoos from KOSH in addition. I don’t wear make-up tattoos too much but I like these eyeshadows because the colours blend in well. If you like these, you should also check out their “Metallic” eyeshadows for bright, colourful party looks.

New at the Skin Fair opening later today are two faces from Curio: Pout and Yum 2. You’ll find there two recent faces, as well, with Sweetheart, the icy, fragile blonde, and Jasmine, the asian face which was blogged all over a few weeks back.

I love the new eyebrows on this face; straight, slightly bushy and natural are my favourite kind and I think they always bring more realism to the face overall too. I liked this combination of tone and make-up a lot for a look that was not too, too young, but was still soft and sweetly natural. I seemed to have a bit of an issue with the lining of the nostril creases along my shape’s nose, though, that I didn’t see on the vendors, but my nose might just be too wide. Other than that, perfection ! The lips shade here might be my favourite.

Yum 2 in Dark Acorn.

Gala started bringing more diversity to her skin lines with the Yum face recently, and here comes Yum 2 with more make-up options. I really appreciated its ethnic features, when this face first arrived, even more noticeable to me in this skin tone, I think, and I love, love the nose !

Sweetheart in Light Petal.

You might have done a double take here just like I did. I went blonde to match the eyebrows and, tada! This is what happened. I know. This face was fun to shoot, it was like being in someone else’s shoes entirely just for a bit.

Boy, are you in luck today ! As it happens, LeLutka is part of Fifty Linden Friday this week and is offering this amazing deal: a skin in one make-up, coming in four tones with dark and light eyebrows, a hair base option as well as cleavage enhancers on clothing layers and some lashes. And doubly in luck for me because on first try it seemed like it was fitting me like a glove, a rare occurrence between LeLutka and me. I also love the naked lips and subtle eye shadow. Overall, it’s pouty, young, hip, a dream ! ❤

I received a skin to sample, today, sent by Ai Baroque, who I’ve been aware of as being an SL photographer. She made a picture that I really admire here. In the message that accompanied the inventory offer, she explained she had briefly opened a shop some time ago and was now back to making skins. And I was pleasantly surprised, I really liked the face ! Starting with the mouth, especially, it has… character, while being soft. And the face, it’s got a sort of a 60′s good girl, clean look to it, pure, sweet, without being too clean or too fresh or overly young (if that will make sense). And it happens to pair wonderfully with Lamb’s newest hairstyle, I think. Now, I’m assuming Ai Baroque is fairly fresh to this, and I noticed this was the only skin line available at her shop. So. There are a few things that bothered me a little, well mainly one thing, and I’m not sure if it’s an actual flaw or if I’m imagining it but something looks funny in the skin tone of the face. It’s most noticeable on the medium tone (pictured here) and the dark tone, but became visible on the light tone as well after some more peering to compare: it concerns the area stretching from slightly above the eyebrows to the upper eyelids and across the nose that appears to be slightly lighter than the rest of the face. It feels as though I came back from a ski vacation and wore a pair of perfectly rectangular shades with a straight browline. I asked a friend and she said she had not noticed, and after I pointed it out, did not think it was very bad. So maybe it’s me. But I did want to show this skin as I loved the face, and also think I will love to wear it again on occasion. If you want to check it out, it’s at Lyriope !

“Hounds of Love”, Keiko Morigi’s new skin release from &bean, is coming out ~~tomorrow~~ soon, and the faces and make-ups are sweet ! Coming in three tones, they also have three eyebrow options. There are 7 pairs of gorgeous, fun eyelashes included with the skins as well, each tintable, and fun to play with ! Something else I loved, those new pants from Fashionably Dead. The fabric and sculpts are perfect, and the design is both classic and original. Must have !
